  We built a home in June 2017 with this builder. We only just had orders made in our favour against the builder by NCAT. The builder failed to attend the hearing.
  
  The tribunal found the builder failed to build the home to plan, failed to meet statutory warranty requirements and there are works which fail to meet the relevant building codes, regulations and standards. The tribunal has ordered the builder pay the value of the rectification as reported by our expert building inspector.
  
  The builder also claimed our contingency funds as variations 3 months after handover. The tribunal has ordered the builder to pay this back.
  
  The builder has also failed to comply with previous directions of the tribunal.
  
  All in all we've spent 2 years and tens of thousands of dollars disputing this as the house is so poorly built with such poor finishes and fittings. We're glad to finally be able to move on and feel that the information above should be made known.

  The worst mistake of my life engaging this builder. As we were building in a cold climate area we decided to invest that bit more to build a house that would be energy efficient and maintain a more constant temperature throughout the seasons. Everything we read sounded great. The house was designed to let the sun in in winter and keep it out in summer. If only they built the house to plan. They changed the length of our eaves with no consultation or approval, the windows are "one of the worst examples of installation and manufacturing " that the awa inspector has ever seen, letting in excessive air flow (so much so that we've had ice on the ceiling in our ensuite). When all this was raised the builder refused to take responsibility for the design change and would not acknowledge the major issues we were having. Over 2 years later we've finally received the final outcome of our tribunal hearing (the builder didn't even bother to turn up) awarding us 100% of all issues listed. 170k to have defects fixed along with 15k (the whole amount) of our contingency funds that were kept by the builder claiming it was used on "variations" that we had never approved. We were only made aware of these variations 3 months after we had moved in. The cost of taking this matter through NCAT has been an extra burden financially, however this was necessary as the builder had no intention of righting any of the long list of wrongs. Instead kept his head in the sand hoping it would all go away. Anyone else impacted by this builder will soon be able to have defects rectified through insurance as the non adherence to the tribunal orders will mean the licence is cancelled and this will be a trigger event to claim.
  The nightmare of fighting for our rights is over, now the rectification work begins with a builder who knows what he's doing and cares about the final product.
